The University of South Alabama USA is offering #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship to promising international students for the purpose of advancing intercultural learning and understanding in 2020.
The #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship recognizes international students who have a vision for enhancing intercultural understanding. It is a social media and scholarship campaign designed to affirm that U.S. institutions are diverse, friendly, safe, and committed to student development. In 2019, more than 50 institutions offered #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarships for the first time, in order to make study in the U.S. possible for even more high-achieving students.
Worth of Award
Two annual, renewable scholarships that cover a minimum of 50% tuition to selected international undergraduates.
Eligibility
- Must be a first-year international applicant at the University of South Alabama. International applicants are individuals who hold citizenship in a country outside the U.S. and who don’t also possess U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
- Demonstrated interest and initiative in promoting intercultural learning and exchange.
How to Apply

- Apply for admission to the University of South Alabama by filling out the online application or completing the Common Application.
- Submit the #YouAreWelcomeHere application to [email protected] by the priority deadline
- Complete a 500-1000-word essay or a two-to-five-minute video* answering the following prompt, “ Your leadership skills in your school or community, and how you plan to continue applying your leadership skills at the school you are applying to?”
If awarded the scholarship, claim it by May 1, 2020.
Deadline: The deadline for the receipt of applications is April 1, 2020.
